Masjid Al-Qiblatayn (The Mosque of Two Qiblas) is named for the historic event in 624 CE when the Quranic verse commanding Muslims to change the qibla (direction of prayer) from Jerusalem to Mecca was revealed while the Prophet ﷺ was leading prayer. Mid-prayer, the Prophet turned and the congregation followed, completing the prayer in the new direction.
